So what are we gonna get into today?
Today we’re talking about happiness!
Who likes happiness?
I sure do and it feels good to be happy so I wanna give you three quick and easy tips to help you shift into happiness in under 10 minutes. That would be super nice, right?
Step one is to actually get some space to yourself. So step one is two to five minutes of quiet time. If you can meditate, great. But you can also just give yourself a little bit of space, maybe it’s a two minute walk, maybe it’s three minutes of breathing, maybe it’s just five minutes of separating yourself from whatever it is that’s creating some bubbling up of emotion and allowing yourself to be with yourself. Maybe it’s even allowing yourself to experience whatever emotion is coming up, other than the happiness.
So giving yourself space, create two to five minutes of quiet time and space just for you. This is powerful because you’re getting into your own energy. A lot of times the emotion that we’re experiencing, we’re actually pulling it off of other people.
So if you could get some alone time, even if it’s just moving yourself into a bathroom, going into a quiet space, stepping outside for a moment, taking two to five minutes to get into your own space and energy to breathe and release, that’s step one. Super, super powerful.
Ready for step two? This is the actual opposite, you’re going to connect with somebody. So step two is to actually hug. Who loves to hug? Anybody who knows me knows I love a good cuddle puddle, I love to snuggle, I love to connect. And the reason why is because it increases our oxytocin.
Oxytocin is also known as the love hormone. It’s super powerful for supporting us in moving outta depression, anxiety, negative emotion, for lack of a better word, I’m calling it negative emotion.
It’s really powerful to hug and connect. And allow the hug to last 20 to 60 seconds. So we’re still under 10 minutes here, just a nice 20 to 60 second hug, boost that oxytocin up, create some connection and start to see yourself moving into a happier state and way of being.
Alright, ready for tip number three? Tip number three is gratitude, but I’m gonna invite you to do this gratitude a little bit different. Write down five things you’re grateful for and then that person you hugged, share your gratitude with them and ask them what are five things they’re grateful for? Then you’re in this giving and receiving flow of gratitude and you’re allowing appreciation to enter your mind, your body, your sprit, your field of energy and you’re starting to shift into a grateful state which amplifies your emotion into happiness.
So, practice these three steps all week, totally under 10 minutes. You can use them together, you can use them separate, but just be mindful when you notice yourself wanting to shift into a higher state of happiness, give yourself some space, go and hug somebody you love, or even a stranger, and then pause for gratitude, share that gratitude, and invite somebody else into the practice of gratitude.
