Everyone keeps asking me how it happened, so I’m here to share!
I woke up Saturday morning and Michael asked me, “Is this going to be the best day of your life?!” Instinctively, I said yes.
Little did I know how magical it would be.
It appeared to be a normal day. While it was Saturday, it felt like a Sunday. Michael and I knew we had a 4am wake up call Sunday due to his new work schedule. So I truly suspected nothing.
We went to yoga, did a Whole Foods run, prepped food for the week, and even took a nap on the couch. Yes- this dude was cool as a cucumber! Who is able to take a nap when they are nervous as heck!?!? That would be my man.
When he invited me to an early dinner, I didn’t think anything of it because we had an early wake-up call. When he took me to park before dinner, I also thought nothing of it (if you know Michael at all, you know he is obsessed with the park). He would go every day if he could!
I had the thought, “what if he asked me to marry him today?” which was my intuition speaking to me, but I assumed it was just my mind daydreaming about something that was important to me. So as we walked through the park, I had no idea what was coming.
Michael led me to “our spot” in Forest Park. We had our first date there and many others since then. So once again, this was normal to me.
And then it happened.
As the sun set, and the sky lit up with colors of yellow and orange, he looked at me and told me the most beautiful things a man could ever say to another human being. He walked me through our whole life together thus far and shared with me what he saw for our future.
I was able to see our lives through his eyes- the first time we met, our first date, the growth I have been able to inspire in him, the different ways he loves and respects me, and why he knew from the depths of his being that we would have an amazing life together.
I did everything in my power to breathe, stay present, and really listen. It was a moment that I wanted to last forever.
As he took out the ring, we looked at each other- crying, smiling, laughing, and holding a silent moment together as if to say, “This is it. This is the moment. It’s happening,” without having to say the words.
He got on one knee, asked me to marry him, and I said yes over and over again. We kissed, hugged, danced, jumped up and down, and held each other with our whole hearts.
It was the best moment of my life.
I can truly say I’ve been waiting for this man for my entire life, and very likely, for many lifetimes.
He’s all that I am not and he completes the puzzle that is my soul.
I’m grateful, humbled, and honored to know this man, much less spend the rest of my life with him.
For the first time in my life, I was at a loss for words. So what I couldn’t say then, I will say now.
Michael- Loving you is a part of my purpose in this lifetime. You are the most beautiful, open-hearted, generous, protective, and loving man I know. I trust you with my life. My heart is yours and I know it’s safe with you. You fill this life with joy, laughter, and so many silly moments that I can’t even count. I am a better human because of you. You are my sanctuary and my home. I wouldn’t be who I am without you. You make every day the best day of my life. I have said it before and I will say it until the day I die- thank you for choosing me. I will spend the rest of my days showing you how much I appreciate all that you are! I can’t wait to see what is ahead for us! I love you always and forever my love.
Thank you once again for letting me share this very special story with you.
Love and light always,
